The very first day in Finlandia Open in Kisakallio ended with total Japanese control. The Japanese settled all of their team matches without losing, so both Friday’s finals will be played between Japan\u00b4s first and second teams.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Finnish men’s first team made their way to the semi-finals where Japanese second team took a clear victory. Prior to that, Benedek Ol\u00e1h, Alex Naumi and Miikka O\u00b4Connor had won the first team of Luxembourg and the second team of Estonia 2-0 and the first team of Ukraine 2-1.<\/div>\n

Ol\u00e1h lost to Naoya Kawakam in the semi-final by a clear 0-3, but the team’s games went mainly to the warm-up match on Friday, where the Finn is first-seeded.<\/div>\n

Women’s first team Anna Kirichenko and Ramona Betz made their way to quarter-finals but lost to Belarus’s second team 0-2. Only 16-year-old Betz, who lives permanently in Germany, made her senior debut in Finnish shirt.<\/div>\n

Kaksinpelin PKO (progressive knock out) j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 on monimutkainen pelij\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4, jossa pelataan jokaisesta sijoituksesta. Jos haluat yritt\u00e4\u00e4 opiskella sit\u00e4, voit katsella vanhoja tuloksia t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Finlandia Open will kick off on Thursday for the 30th time. The competition has been played since 1981 (though biennially in the early years) and the men’s singles winner list features well-known table tennis names from Jan-Ove Waldner and Liu Guoliang to Mattias Falck. Japan’s Hokuto Koriyma, who has dominated the last three years of the race, is not involved this time. Home crowd naturally expects Benedek Ol\u00e1h to eventually win his home competition. First-seeded Ol\u00e1h would be the first Finnish winner in the history of competition.<\/div>\n

Women’s singles win has gone to Japan for the last five years. Now the first-seeded player is Ma Wenting of Norway, who was second after Ayane Morita a year ago. The host country player Anna Kirichenko is also high on seeding list.<\/div>\n

On Thursday, there will be a team competition and the singles will be played Friday to Sunday. The progressive knockout system used in singles ultimately gives each player an accurate position. It is thanks to this system that the Finlandia Open has maintained its popularity as a popular competition for young players. At best, the player will get 7-8 matches in the competition.<\/div>\n

There are 120 male and 75 female players from 29 countries. The venue is – for the 8th time – Kisakallio Sports Institute, which provides players with excellent conditions. The venue is only a short walk from the rooms and dining takes place in the same center. The players are able to rest in their own rooms between the matches.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

At the same time, the ETTU Executive Board will also have it meeting in Finland. Vice President Sonja Grefberg will get her colleagues home for the first time. It is snowy but this time not very cold, just a few degrees below zero. Finnish winter wellcomes everyone!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
